Katherine Farady MD General & Cosmetic Dermatology and Austin Dermatology & Vein joined together in 2021 to operate under the name Farady Dermatology Associates with two locations serving the Austin community. We have been serving Austin patients for more than 25 years and offer medical and cosmetic dermatology services.
We are all passionate about providing the highest quality dermatologic care with an emphasis on treating the person and not just the disease. We are committed to providing patient-centered quality care and our team of providers have a vast amount of experience. Our team has kept up with modern dermatology technologies, including tools, restorations and innovative methods of achieving and maintaining optimal skin health. While our expertise in dermatology tools and techniques has evolved over time, our commitment to our patient’s comfort and well-being has been consistent since we began our practices. We uphold this commitment with thorough and gentle dermatology treatment, as well as educating our patients to have a better skincare regimen outside of our office.
With general dermatology, our team examines your skin and takes preventative steps to avoid problems like melanoma. However, these issues can still occur over time. If we find spots on your skin that cause concern, we will help you address them.
We care for your well-being.
Meet Our Team
Simi Cadmus, MD
General and Cosmetic Dermatology
Dr. Simi Cadmus grew up in Nigeria and moved to the United States with her family. She attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor where she earned her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Brain, Behavior and Cognitive Science. College was a great time to explore different cultures and she used this opportunity to participate in study abroad programs in both France and China.
Her journey continued to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where she completed a Masters of Science degree at Drexel University. She then obtained her medical degree from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. During her medical school career, she completed several research projects, publications, presentations and also spent a summer in Ghana learning about skin of color and tropical dermatology.
In keeping with her love of new experiences, Dr. Cadmus completed a one-year transitional year residency program in Jacksonville, FL before subsequently moving to Austin for dermatology residency at the University of Texas/Dell Medical where she served as Chief Resident in her final year. Her professional interests include general medical dermatology, surgical dermatology, skin of color, and cosmetics.
When she is not working, Dr. Cadmus loves to spend time with her family trying new restaurants, going to museums/learning about history, listening to music, watching an engaging TV series, and of course traveling!
Courtney Scamardo, PA-C
Courtney Scamardo, PA-C, grew up in Navasota, Texas, where she was introduced to medicine by her father, a small-town internal medicine doctor. After graduating on the Dean’s List from McComb’s Business School at the University of Texas at Austin with a BA in Marketing, she decided the medical world was her true calling. She elected to pursue a career as a physician assistant and earned her Master of Physician Assistant Studies degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas in 2014. After graduation, she worked for 8 years as a practicing dermatologist in Hays County, where her office was awarded Best Dermatologist of Hays County.
She is currently a member of the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants and the American Academy of Physician Assistants. She has been certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and is licensed by the Texas State Board of Physician Assistant Examiners.
Courtney loves working in dermatology because of the satisfaction that comes from building trust and relationships with her patients through treating a variety of ailments. The partnership between patient and provider in dermatology sets it apart from many other fields and she enjoys being able to have such a positive effect on people’s lives by treating their skin conditions and changing their lives for the better.
When she is not practicing dermatology, Courtney is an avid sports fan, and you will often find her at sporting events with her friends and family or watching games at home with her husband, two dogs, Biff and Finn, and 29-year-old ball python, Rastis. She loves to cook gourmet meals and owns over 100 cookbooks, which she only reads once and doesn’t actually use for recipes, just for inspiration. Traveling is a passion of hers and she loves to explore new cultures with her husband and family. Every year, she celebrates her birthday in New Orleans, her second favorite city behind Austin. Her favorite seasons are fall and spring, during which you can find her hiking and backpacking around the country, especially Colorado and the Rocky Mountains. Courtney is excited to bring her expertise and passion to all the patients at Farady Dermatology!
